Cargo Pants - Now, you all know that I was initially a little hesitant about these puppies (terrible memories of 6th grade) - but I was still willing to give them the old college try. Well, thank GOD I didn’t bad-mouth them, because cargo pants have successfully “She’s All That’d” themselves up the ranks of ‘cooldom’. They took their hair out of the ponytail, got contacts and shed the painter’s smock - revealing a surprisingly ’sexy’ pant.
The rapid resurgence of cargo pants is less of a reintroduction and more of a reinvention. Designers slimmed them up, removed ’excess’ pockets and experimented with new, previously ignored fabrics. The result is a pant that looks new and refreshed while still paying respect to the heritage of the cargo pant. You can wear them with a sportcoat and bowtie or with a simple gingham shirt. Either way, your outfit will look effortless and pulled together. And I mean, come on, once you have Orlando Bloom’s support - you’ve made it.
In some parts of the country, cargo pants never really went away - so you guys are lucky - just take them out of your closets. For us fools who got rid of ours - here are some quick and cheap (you never know how long this will last - so don’t invest a ton of funds here) options. Uniqlo has the ones pictured for $39.90! Dockers has thesefaux cargos for $85. J.Crew has a slim option for $79.50. And if you want to get real fancy - J Brand has their option for $231.
